INFORMATION
MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK (IMF)The
NRIMS 2002-05 Action Plan identifies that the State's natural resource
data activities should be coordinated through an integrated program. In
that regard the Information
Management Framework (IMF) version 1.0 has been adopted to help manage the State's natural resource information assets. The
NRIMS IMF categorises information management business
functions and provides guidelines, templates, business metrics, a controlled vocabulary and
tools. The IMF ensures consistency to the management of information
resources in line with industry best practice and recognised standards. The
framework is of use to data custodians and managers of natural resource information. Work is continuing in the development of additional guidelines and
procedures in future versions. Also
presented is the blueprint which provides an overview of the framework and the status of current development of the IMF. The NRIMS Steering Group
has endorsed the use of this IMF as a standard approach to
natural resource information management across NSW government. NRIMS
